AESO Post-Graduation Career Prospects
The career prospects for an esthetician are positive! From 2022 to 2031, new job openings are expected to total 21,200, while 17,600 new job seekers are expected to be available to fill them* (Government of Canada, 2024). Some options are:
- Skincare Specialist: Work providing facial treatments, hydradermabrasion, chemical peels, skincare consultations, and body treatments.
- Nail Technician: Offer services like manicures, pedicures, and gel nail enhancements in salons, spas, or nail bars.
- Spa Manager: Manage the day-to-day operations, oversee and schedule staff, manage inventory, and provide excellent customer service as management.
- Beauty Consultant/Sales Representative: Represent skincare, makeup, or nail product companies by providing product demonstrations, consultations, and sales support.
- Educator: Teach esthetics courses at post-secondary schools or provide training for skincare and cosmetics brands.
- Entrepreneur: Open a home-based venture, establish your own spa, launch a mobile spa service, or invest in a spa franchise.
- Continuing Education: With the demand for spa dentistry rising, consider programs in Dental Hygiene or Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Levels 1 and 2. My experience so far at Oxford has been a good one. It has been nice to meet a few people, I do enjoy the smaller classroom size, it makes for a great learning environment. I have a great teacher and I have had great interactions with any of the admin staff that I have needed to work with. I’m always happy for quick responses to questions and fast email replies.
I really value the timing of the classes (being in the morning) which allows for flexibility in other schedules.
So far, so good…Its been a great fit for me personally.
